What is Thigh Lift?

Thigh Lift is a surgical procedure used to tighten and improve the overall appearance of the thighs. Candidates for this procedure have a loss of skin elasticity in the thigh or have thighs with a saggy, dimpled, or loose appearance, which will improve significantly if the loose skin is removed. Lifting a thigh can reduce sagging of the inner or outer thighs. This is a procedure usually performed on patients who have lost a lot of weight.

Thigh Lift takes about two hours and is usually performed under general anesthesia. The incisions for this procedure can vary greatly, so a surgeon will consult the patient to make sure the incisions are made in the most effective way for each specific situation.

An inner thigh lift focuses on the inner thigh, while a bilateral thigh lift focuses on tightening the skin on the front and outside of the leg. The surgeon makes an incision in the upper part of the leg where the bottom edge of the bikini bottom or underwear would be. A small amount of skin is removed, and then the remaining skin is pulled up, tightening the skin on both sides of the leg. This procedure is usually done after a person has lost a lot of weight.

For thigh lift, the surgeon will mark the thighs with the patient standing before surgery. In all kinds of thigh lift, the incision is closed with deep stitches to prevent sagging after the incisions are healed. The post-op scar is hidden in the groin line below the bikini line. Some drains are placed during the procedure that allow excess fluid to drain after surgery. Those are usually removed after a few days.

If the outer thigh is to be targeted, thigh lift sometimes involve lifting the entire thigh and buttocks. This procedure requires longer incisions than inner thigh lift, but surgeons at Coolest Clinic are experts in providing the most effective results possible.

Liposuction can also be performed before thigh aesthetics if there is an excessive amount of adipose tissue.

There is no special preparation for this surgery. As with any operation you should stop smoking, drinking alcohol and taking blood thinners at least 1 week before the surgery.

If you develop a cold or other infection, it may be necessary to postpone the operation.

After Thigh Lift Surgery

Our doctor will provide you with some specific care instructions after Thighplasty such as the care of your drains and incisions, and on when to take the prescribed medications. Whatever your surgeon’s instructions are, be sure to follow them exactly to shorten the time of recovery and enhance your results.

The recovery time depends on the extent of the procedure, but most patients experience minimal pain alleviated by medication. In all cases, patients should rest as much as possible. Patients should plan to take 7 to 10 days off work to recover. The bruising and swelling usually pass within a month, and patients can return to all normal activities within 4 to 6 months.
